what is This Is Grit?
This is Grit is a partnership between two experienced Conflict Resolution Practitioners (Hannah Pepper and Ishshah Fleming) which brings together our distinct approaches and places our values at the centre of our practice.
We share a willingness and enthusiasm to get down into the grit of conflict and, within that place of difficulty and tension, know that we can find a grain of possibility that things can be different.
Whether working with one, two, or many people, we encourage them to bring their conflict into the foreground, and together we consider it from all angles, engage our curiosity about what is happening and ask:
– What can change?
– How can things be better?
more about us
Well, apart from having true grit…our starting point is knowing what we are good at, interested in and unafraid of. It takes: skill, patience, empathy, perseverance and drive to approach conflict and bring about positive change.
We trained and began working in community and neighbourhood conflict resolution with Bristol Mediation in 2014. Within this team we were able to develop and explore our own approaches when working with people experiencing conflict. We’ve worked with individuals, families, colleagues and organisations across the city: facilitating dialogue, resolving conflict, improving relationships and helping others gain a better understanding of conflict and how we can approach it. We learnt and built upon the benefits of co-working in our conflict resolution practice. We stand by this model because we have seen – quite simply – that two brains are better than one when working with the complexities of conflict.
We are committed to making these approaches a service that is within reach for individuals and organisations of all types and size.
